Lincoln Center
Sustaining Commitment
As part Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts’ transformation to modernize and update its concert halls and public spaces, the Laurie M. Tisch Illumination Fund provided $10 million in the summer of 2007 for the construction of a new campus green. The Illumination Lawn is a re-imagined public space at the heart of one of the city’s most treasured institutions. One of the goals of transforming the Lincoln Center campus was to develop public spaces in a way that enlivened the campus and encouraged public use –the architecturally-innovative sloping lawn reflects a transformed campus that is more welcoming and accessible to the community.
Designed to provide a tranquil 7,200-square-foot-oasis for students, artists, and visitors, the Illumination Lawn serves as a dynamic gathering space that shares the Fund’s mission of encouraging a strong and lasting sense of community. Laurie M. Tisch also serves on the Lincoln Center Board.
